How to run the test yourself

Treatment becomes evidence only when measurements before and after sit next to it — taken with the same instrument, in the same duty, with running time in between. Below: what to measure on your component, a blank report form and a filled example.

The rule that decides everything

One instrument, one duty, one point. The before and after measurements must be taken with the same instrument, at the same load and at the same points. Otherwise there is nothing to compare: the difference will be a difference of conditions, not a result.

Running time between measurements. Revitalisation is gradual. A measurement taken right after dosing shows instrument scatter, not a result; the second measurement follows hundreds of operating hours or thousands of kilometres — and is written down.

A second identical unit left untreated. The strongest evidence and the rarest: only 19 of 255 cases in this catalogue have a control machine. If there is no second unit, say so — that is more honest than silence.

How to read compression

Compression will not rise above the factory nominal. The ceiling is set by the engine design: treatment restores the rated figures, it does not exceed them. A worn engine therefore gains more and one close to nominal gains less — that is not a difference in the quality of treatment.

Cylinders of one engine wear differently, so their compression differs. After treatment it usually evens out across the cylinders: the spread between the worst and the best narrows. Read the spread, not only the average.

Right after treatment compression may drop — this is not a failure. On a heavily worn cylinder it is often held up by carbon deposits on the piston and rings. The deposits go, and at the first stage the gauge shows the true condition that was masked. The figure rises afterwards.

Worn rings are replaced without a full overhaul. If treatment shows the rings are the cause, they are replaced and the treatment is repeated — there is no need to strip the engine.

Take the first measurement on a decarbonised engine. Only then does it show the real condition rather than compression propped up by carbon: otherwise the gain looks smaller than it is, and the drop at the first stage looks inexplicable.

Order of preparation:

  1. decarbonise the cylinders — XADO RED ANTICARBON;
  2. if an oil change is due anyway — flush the oil system with XADO RED FLUSH and change the oil;
  3. take the «before» measurements — now they are honest;
  4. apply the revitalizant gel.

The second step is in italics on purpose: flushing and an oil change are not imposed for the sake of treatment — they are done when the maintenance schedule calls for them anyway.

Report form and example

The form follows the statistics of what is missing in 433 analysed reports: every section closes one of the common gaps. The filled example shows what to write in each field; the plant in it is fictional.

How the treatment runs

  1. Take the «before» measurements; record running time, oil grade and duty.
  2. Add the calculated dose of gel to the standard oil with the unit running — no disassembly, no downtime.
  3. Run the prescribed hours and repeat the dosing as many times as the component requires.
  4. Take the «after» measurements — same instrument, same duty.
  5. Months later, take a control measurement: it separates a result from instrument scatter.

Dose rate, number of stages and intervals depend on the component and the oil volume. They come with the compound, in the instruction for your unit; we do not publish them here so that you hold the current revision rather than a copy of a web page.
