Turbomolecular pump

The smallest machine among those analyzed: a 60 ml bath, a 0.05 ml dose. The oil is drawn off with a syringe and replaced by the mixture — topping up into such a volume is not possible.

Rotary-type turbomolecular pump: 60 ml oil bath, rotor at 30 000 rpm

The class standard is 1.2 ml per liter. The same norm applies here (1 ml/l of gel for power steering), but recalculated for a micro-volume: 0.05 ml per stage. Rolling bearings, oil-lubricated →

What is measured before and after

ParameterInstrumentHow and when
Vibration level of the bearing supportsvibrometerIn the vertical, horizontal and axial directions, before the start and after the end of the cycle.
Noise level of the bearing supportssound level meterWhere possible.
Operating temperature of the bearing assembliesthermometerMonitored throughout the entire treatment.

Dosage rates

CompoundRateHow and when
Power steering gel1 ml per 1 liter of the standard oil — that is, 0.05 ml per stageHeat 10 ml of TM-1 oil to 50–60 °C and dissolve 0.05 ml of the gel in it; draw 10 ml of oil out of the system with a syringe and introduce 10 ml of the mixture.

Treatment stages

  1. Draw off 10 ml of oil with a syringe fitted with a flexible tube and introduce 10 ml of the mixture in its place.Start of the running-time count
  2. The second stage is the same as the first. After 8 hours of total running time
  3. The third stage is the same as the first.8 hours later
